A satellite flagged a depot as underwater, and a $1.2M payout was set to fire automatically. It was a cloud's shadow.
That depot is synthetic, one of eight test locations we built to stress a parametric flood trigger. The trap is real: a cloud shadow, a radar shadow, and a permanent reservoir all darken a satellite image the same way real floodwater does. Look once, and you cannot tell them apart.
So before any payout clears, our TriggerProof demo checks the next satellite pass. Real floodwater is still there. The shadow has moved, because it drifted at cloud speed, and radar had already seen dry ground straight through the cloud. The shadow moved; the water would have stayed.
Plain, inspectable code makes that call, not an AI. The AI only weighs in as a second opinion, and it can be overruled.
Across that synthetic eight-location book, a storm queued $8.0M in automatic payouts. TriggerProof confirmed $4.0M on the two real floods and stopped or held the other $4.0M for proof, with a forensic record behind every decision.
If you run an automatic flood-trigger book, pull last season's instant payouts. How many would still look right after a second satellite pass?
