- The SEC fined firms for claiming they used AI when they didn't.
Not for bad AI. For fake AI.
The era of "just say it's AI" is over. Here's what actually comes next: 🧵
In March 2024, the SEC hit Delphia and Global Predictions with $400K in penalties.
The charge: AI washing. - They marketed "machine learning" and "AI-driven forecasts" they never built.
Delphia claimed ML analyzed client spending and social media to predict winners.
Reality? They never integrated that data. Ever.
The SEC told them to stop in 2021. They kept going. - Global Predictions called itself "the first regulated AI financial advisor."
When auditors asked for technical documentation?
They couldn't produce it.
The FTC followed with Operation AI Comply.
DoNotPay — "the world's first robot lawyer" — got shut down. - Turns out it couldn't actually replace a lawyer. Shocking.
Here's the deeper problem nobody's talking about:
Most enterprise "AI solutions" are thin wrappers around public APIs with prompt engineering and a logo.
No proprietary data. No verification. No determinism. - An LLM predicts the next likely token. It has no concept of truth.
In banking, healthcare, or legal — "mostly correct" is legally identical to "wrong."
That's not a tech problem. That's a liability.
Our approach: neuro-symbolic architecture. - Citation-Enforced GraphRAG physically prevents the model from outputting a claim it can't verify through a knowledge graph.
Not "reduced hallucinations." Eliminated ones.
We pair this with multi-agent orchestration. - One agent retrieves. Another verifies against the graph. A third writes only from verified facts.
Then cyclic reflection catches what slipped through before a human ever sees it.
The real question isn't "does your AI work?"
It's "can your AI prove it works?" - NIST AI RMF builds the muscles. ISO 42001 makes it certifiable. An AI Bill of Materials makes it auditable.
If your AI vendor can't explain what's under the hood, that's not a feature — it's a future enforcement action. - So honest question: is your org building AI that can survive an audit? #AIWashing #DeepAI
